Winter SNOW EMERGENCY Policies
As long as a snow removal event exists in any street in the city no vehicle except emergency vehicles shall park on any street. During snow removal events odd/even parking shall be suspended until streets are fully plowed and the snow event has been cancelled by city authorities. Any vehicle in violation shall be deemed a traffic hazard subject to immediate ticketing and/or towing. The penalty for improperly parking during a snow event shall be $75.00, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. Residents are also reminded to remove trash and recycling carts
from the street. “We take a lot of pride in clearing our roads. Please be patient with our crew and remove
vehicles from roadways so we can work as cautiously and quickly as possible. Stay safe.” Steve Haas, City of South Beloit Streets Superintendent.
PRAIRIE HILL ROAD BRIDGE CLOSURE
Prairie Hill Road between IL Route 2 (Blackhawk Boulevard) and South Bluff Road, in the vicinity of the Village of Rockton and the City of South Beloit, will be closed to traffic for replacement of the Prairie Hill Road bridge over the Rock River. Local traffic will have access on either side of the bridge. Depending on the weather, work is scheduled to start on Monday February 2, 2026 and it’s anticipated to be completed by the end of November, 2026. The duration of the work and road closure is dependent on the weather. Please use caution in construction zones and plan to use alternate routes.
