Middle School Makers @ South Beloit Library

Students in grades 5-8 can join us after school.  We’re having a throw-back to their childhood or perhaps a babysitting trick.  We’ll be making home-made modeling dough.  Snacks and all supplies will be provided.  And of course we talk about the books we are reading.

Backpacking the Appalachian Trail | Outdoor Adventure Education Series @ Nature At The Confluence Campus

Join Rocktown Adventures and Nature at the Confluence as we present the “Outdoor Adventure Education Series”.

This 4 part series will have an interactive presentation on a different outdoor recreation topic each month from January thru April.  January’s topic is Backpacking the Appalachian Trail.

Snowshoeing is a great low impact aerobic activity. However there is more to snowshoeing than simply taking a plunge in some untracked snow. Come have some fun in the snow, meet some new people, and learn the ins and outs of the fastest growing winter sport during our Nature at the Confluence Snowshoe Hike with Rocktown Adventures!

Enjoy S’mores and Hot Cocoa around our big outdoor fire after your adventure!

Details: This hour long hike starts with instruction where you will learn how to put on and take off your snowshoes, select the proper snowshoe, and dress for the outdoors in winter. After that we head out on the snow and learn how to get up from a fall, select a comfortable stride for walking and stomping, and turning around as we tour the loop around Nature at the Confluence.

Price includes snowshoes, poles, and a $5 gift Rocktown gift certificate
Adults: $20 |  Kids: 12 and under are 1/2 price!

Location: Nature at the Confluence, 306 Dickop St. South Beloit, IL.

We need a minimum of 6 participants and the cooperation of Mother Nature to hold the class. In the event Mother Nature does not cooperate or we fail to get the minimum amount of participants we will make a decision 24 hrs in advance. We will post on our website and Facebook and call all participants.

Cameras At The Confluence: Macro Photography

Join us as we explore the world of Macro Photography. We will discuss and learn some tips to use when photographing close-up images and view examples of Macro Photography. We invite you to bring your Macro Photographs to share with our group. Either bring a print or email it to us in advance at info@natureattheconfluence.com

Macro photography is photography magnified. It is generally recognized as “macro” when you are increasing the size of an object in your picture from about half life-size, as represented on the image sensor, to five times life-size.

This is a free event open to area photographers. No registration required.

Regular City Council Meetings are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 5:00PM.
All meetings are held at South Beloit City Hall, 519 Blackhawk Blvd. in the City Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend.

All special City Council Meetings, Council Committee Meetings, and Council Advisory Meetings will be held with at least a 48 hour notice.

Little Builders Club for 6 and under @ South Beloit Library
